History of The Elkay Family Foundation

In 1920 Leopold Katz and his son, Louis Katz Sr. started Elkay Manufacturing Company. This was made possible with help from their cousin Paul Sternberg Sr. Throughout the last 100 plus years the Katz and Sternberg family continue to have a “family” business. Today that business is Elkay Interior Systems. The one thing that has not changed over the years is the dedication and gratitude the family has for the employees, their families, and the business.  In 2018 the “younger” generations of the families came together to form The Elkay Family Foundation, a private non-profit 501C 3 organization.  As a family, we feel strongly to support our extended family, the employees of Elkay Interior Systems and their communities. The Foundation is funded primarily from the family and all donations go back the employees and their communities in forms of Scholarships and other programs.
